About Total Commander

Overview

What is Total Commander?

Total Commander is a file manager for Windows. It handles copy, move, and delete like Explorer, but adds packing and unpacking, FTP server access, compare-by-content, directory sync, and a tabbed dual-pane layout power users have relied on since 1995.

Formerly Windows Commander until 2002. Version 11.58 shipped July 1, 2026 with stronger privacy around encrypted archive names in logs and tabs.
