Windows XP 上安装程序被阻止

Windows XP rejects the installer because it uses ECC code signing available only from Windows Vista onward.

  1. Open the folder containing the downloaded installer
  2. Select the installer file and press Alt+Enter
  3. Click the Unlock button on the Properties dialog
  4. Run the installer again

Antivirus claims totalcmd.exe is modified or defective

Total Commander verifies its own checksum at startup. A warning means the executable changed, or a scanner interfered with loading.

  1. Update your antivirus definitions to the latest version
  2. Run a second scanner if the warning persists but no threat is found
  3. Confirm you have read (not just execute) permission on the folder containing totalcmd.exe
  4. Reboot after installing a new version to clear cached old binaries
  5. If your company policy requires it, contact Ghisler support for an unpacked build (registered users)

Slow scanners like older McAfee versions can also cause false virus reports when TC starts from the startup group. Exclude totalcmd.exe or increase the archive scan timeout per McAfee documentation.

FTP 无法连接

Connection failures usually involve a personal firewall or missing proxy settings.

  1. Check ZoneAlarm, Sygate, Norton Internet Security, or the Windows firewall allows Total Commander network access. Closing the firewall UI does not always stop the background service.
  2. If internal servers work but Internet servers fail, ask your network admin for proxy type, hostname, and port. Enter them in the proxy dialog as proxy.company.com:port.
  3. If the server connects but directory listing fails, configure at least one passive mode connection under Net - FTP Connect. TC uses passive mode by default afterward.
  4. For custom ports, append a colon to the server name: ftp.example.com:2121

启动冻结 after closing on a network drive

If a network path was open when you closed Total Commander and the server is now offline, some drivers wait minutes before reporting an error.

  1. Open wincmd.ini in your Windows directory (location shown in Help - About Total Commander)
  2. Find the [left] and [right] sections
  3. Change any saved network path to a local path such as c:\
  4. Save and restart Total Commander

Multi-rename tool freezes on close (version 4.50)

Closing the Multi-Rename Tool with the X button froze Total Commander in version 4.50. This was fixed in later releases.

  1. Update to the current version from the download page
  2. Install over the existing copy and keep your wincmd.key file

Logitech mouse wheel crashes Total Commander

Certain Logitech mouse drivers conflict with TC wheel handling.

  1. Open wincmd.ini under the [Configuration] section
  2. Add the line: IgnoreWheel=1
  3. Save and restart. The wheel still works because the driver converts movement to arrow keys.

最佳实践

  • Keep wincmd.key when updating. Registered users install the shareware build over the old version for free updates.
  • Verify the digital signature on every installer before running it. See download integrity.
  • Open .jar files with Ctrl+PageDown. They are ZIP archives with a different extension.
  • Use passive FTP behind corporate firewalls. Define a custom server type if directory listings parse incorrectly.

Packed executables trigger heuristic detection in some products. Ghisler certifies Total Commander as clean. The built-in checksum is a second layer: it catches tampering even when scanners miss a new threat.
